A 12-day scheduled safari which starts in Kigali and finishes in Kampala.
This safari traces the western Rift Valley, from the Virunga volcanoes to the Rwenzori mountains. It takes you to 3 gorilla parks, each offering unique attractions, in addition to 5 opportunities to go gorilla tracking. Seeing some of the remaining 600 mountain gorillas in their different habitats is a fantastic experience.
In PNV you can climb the Visoke volcano, visit Dian Fossey's grave, and visit the playful families of endangered golden monkeys. In Mgahinga, in Uganda, activities include climbing the Muhavura or Gahinga volcanoes, visiting the local pygmy groups or medicine man, or going to the emerald green Lake Mutanda. In the steep, densely forested hills of Bwindi forest you can go for nature walks in search of the birds, monkeys and orchids.
Continue to Ishasha (roads permitting) and go on the hunt for the tree-climbing lions. The Queen Elizabeth National Park with its tropical forest, savannah, crater lakes and swamps gives you the opportunity to see the great game of Africa including hippo, buffalo, elephant, and over 500 bird species. You can also track the fast moving and elusive chimps in nearby Kyambura Gorge.
