| The Indian Ocean Club is situated south of Mombasa, adjacent to the site of the 16th century Kongo Mosque. In keeping with its historical location it is designed in a Swahili style, and is set to recreate the bygone opulence of the rich Sultans of Zanzibar.
A feature of the reception area is the century old crystal chandelier given to the Sultan of Zanzibar by British traders for landing rights. Strolling through the gardens you may also wonder at the 600-year-old baobab trees.
The tranquil atmosphere of the resort may tempt you to just relax on the beach, or, closer to home, by the freeform pool and 3 plunge pools. However, if you are feeling more energetic, windsurfing, catamaran sailing and pedalos are free. Deep sea fishing in the famed Pemba Channel is available at extra cost, as are scuba qualifications at the hotel's resident diving school.
