This safari lodge is situated on the fertile banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, in the centre of the Samburu Game Reserve in Kenya's rugged, semi-arid Northern Province. Samburu Serena Lodge echoes the robust rhythms of riverfront life and the rustic yet convivial lodge blends well with the environment.
There are 62 standard rooms with shower only facilities, this includes the eight family rooms that have bath and shower facilities. All the rooms have ceiling fans, direct dial telephones and private verandahs that overlook the river where crocodiles feed in full view of the guests. The main area of the lodge has a dining area, bar, lounge, curio shop, beauty salon, library and swimming pool.
The surrounding terrain is renowned for its rare game. Morning, afternoon game drives and bird watching safaris are the ideal way to experience the wildlife. A qualified naturalist gives slide shows and lectures every evening. Champagne breakfasts overlooking the aptly named Crocodile River are offered at an extra charge, as are moonlit dinners in the bush and beside the pool. Other services offered, for an additional cost, include camel rides, traditional Samburu dancing, nature walks and bird walks by the resident naturalist. Beauty therapy is available and includes massages, aromatherapy, manicure and other treatments.
